Add Reflection
Reflections add elegance, realism, and visual depth to any subject. The Add Reflection tool in Posternity lets you easily create clean mirror-like shadows beneath your objects — perfect for product shots, portraits, or creative composites.
Getting Started
To activate reflections:
- Enable the “Add Reflection” option
- This places a mirrored version of your subject beneath it, simulating a reflection on a glossy or polished surface.
Key Controls
- Opacity
- Adjust the intensity of the reflection.
- 🔽 Lower for subtle, soft reflections.
- 🔼 Higher for crisp, dramatic reflections.
- Height
- Controls how tall or deep the reflection appears.
- Increase it for full-body reflections, or decrease for shallow ones.
- Offset
- Adds distance between the object and the reflection, making it appear to hover or float above the surface.
- Ideal for stylized designs, tech product shots, or artistic compositions.
Shaping the Reflection
For maximum realism:
- Add Control Points
- Click along the bottom edge of your subject to define how the reflection wraps or follows the contours of your object.
- This is especially useful for irregular shapes like hair, hands, or detailed product bases.
Pro Tip: Match control points to the natural edges and curves for a more organic mirrored look.
Creative Uses
- Use a sharp reflection with high opacity and no offset for a clean studio look.
- Add a soft, faded reflection with an offset for a modern “floating” aesthetic.
- Combine reflections with blurred shadows for complex visual effects.
